Equipped with all of the original 9R specs, the upgraded 9R-Series lineup is the only tractor series on the market offering a wheeled (9R), two-track (9RT) and four-track (9RX) configuration to ensure optimum performance, effectiveness and efficiency on all types of soil. Designed for enhanced performance and reliability, the all-new 13.6L engine offers 390-590 horsepower, optimal fuel efficiency and robust engine capacity throughout your day. We achieve this by leveraging a high-pressure common-rail (HPCR) system and a hydraulic fan drive. The 13.6L engine offers 13.5% more horsepower than the 13.5L engine, 3% more fluid efficiency, 50% less engine noise, a 27% improvement in repairability and a 13% reduction in maintenance costs.
The new 9R-Series is designed with the strenuous daily activities of farmers in mind. Delivering ultimate operator comfort and convenience, the operator station now provides you with extended headroom, a wider entry path, a larger integrated refrigerator, new seat options, touchscreen radio, footrests, and more. All 9R-Series Tractors offer the choice of Select, Premium or Ultimate cab packages to choose from.

Farm more productively, efficiently, and comfortably.The John Deere 9000 Series made its debut in 1996 with four models, the 200 HP 9100, 310 HP 9200, 360 HP 9300 and 425 HP 9400. These were large frame, high (for the time) horsepower row crop tractors suitable for large-scale farmers who needed to cover a lot of acreage under challenging conditions.
Over the years, the series continued to receive updates with each generation getting more deluxe features and more power. For 2015 (production is expected to begin in November with early ship dates starting in January), the series will now consist of six models (9370, 9420, 9470, 9520, 9570 and 9620) ranging from 370 to 620 HP with tracked (RT) and articulating (R) variants. For the high-performance demands of the scraper market, there are also four specially beefed up tractors ranging from 470 to 620 HP.
Powering the new series are three EPA Final Tier 4 (FT4) engines with 9370 variants getting John Deere PSS 9.0L power; 9420, 9470 and 9520 getting John Deere PSS 13.5L power; and the 9570 and 9620 getting Cummins QSX15 15.0L engines. At the Milwaukee Ride n Drive, it was asked why the Cummins power when John Deere had nearly as high-horsepower engines in products such as their marine diesels or generator platforms. The answer was simple, the torque curve and output needed to achieve the performance expected from 9Rs was more than those John Deere engines could provide. At the Ride n Drive, we also learned the 9R development team had been tasked with maximizing value. Three challenge areas were to control fuel expense, address power hop and ensure steady performance in varying operating conditions. We’ll touch on each of those below.
