Duvelsdorf Meadow Roller Vario/Farming Simulator 19

The Duvelsdorf Meadow Roller Vario is a type of Roller in Farming Simulator 19. It is the only model of Roller in the base game, and no other tool can perform the same job. Unfortunately, it is much more difficult to use than the Roller available in FS17, and is made altogether obsolete by the new Landscaping function.

Advantages

• Cheap: The Meadow Roller Vario is rather cheap. You can purchase it early on to manage your field shapes.
• Drawbar: The Meadow Roller Vario has a Drawbar hitch, and can thus be towed and even used by a variety of Vehicles, including even Cars. Unfortunately, this type of hitch makes the tool far less precise.

Disadvantages

• Narrow: The Meadow Roller Vario's Working Width is only 4.0 meters. Erasing a large section of field (or an entire field) can take a long time. Unfortunately, the base game does not offer any wider tools for this job.
• Difficult to use: The Meadow Roller Vario does not feature a 3-Point Hitch like previous models, and cannot be lifted off the ground when the work is completed. This makes precision work much more difficult, as explained below.
• Obsolete: Farming Simulator 19 offers the option to Landscape the terrain using a special menu. Whether you use the terrain height tool or the painter tool, both will erase any field they touch. Landscaping is far more accurate and less time-consuming than using a Roller - effectively making all Rollers obsolete.

Usage

The Meadow Roller Vario is a little more complicated to use than the model available in Farming Simulator 17, both due to how it attaches to your Tractor, and how it is actually operated. This makes the tool awkward to use with exact precision.

The Roller Vario has two Drawbar hitches that can connect to most Vehicles. The first hitch is a towing hitch that is used to tow this tool from place to place. The other is a work hitch that is explained below.

Once you reach the field you wish to roll, before disconnecting from the tool you must position it exactly where you wish to start rolling. This secondary hitch is at a 90-degree angle to the towing hitch.

Disconnect from the Roller, and drive around to reconnect at the work hitch. From this point on, the roller is already "active" and will destroy any field it touches. Drive the roller over the areas you wish to erase, and then immediately stop. IMPORTANT NOTE: The game does not automatically disconnect your towing vehicle from the Roller when it is folded or unfolded. This causes a weird issue where your vehicle will remain connected to the Roller's work hitch even when it is visible impossible to connect to it. Attempting to drive this way will cause all sorts of weird movements, and will continue to erase any field you touch!
