The Lizard Water Tower is a Placeable available in Farming Simulator 17. This is a placeable supply point for Water, where Water Tankers (and potentially other machines) can come to refill. It is identical in function to a Well.

Function

A Water Tower is a placeable supply point for Water. It acts identically to the Wells that are typically scattered all over the map - except that you decide where to place it.

To use a Water Tower, bring a Water Tankers close to the tower (or any other vehicle or machine that can hold Water). Hitting the button begins transferring water from the tower to the machine. It will automatically stop filling if once machine is full, or if the machine is pulled away from the tower. You can also stop the process manually by hitting the same button again. The water tower contains an infinite amount of water, and will never run out of it.

Water Towers should be placed close to where Water is needed. There are two current uses for Water in the base game: To provide drinking water to Animals, and to fill Greenhouse water tanks. Water Towers can therefore be placed near the Animal Pens so that water can be purchased on-site, without having to locate and use a nearby well (sometimes there isn't a well nearby at all).

NOTE: Water is not free at a Water Tower - you will pay the same price for it as you would at a Well (about $0.20 per liter).

Advantages

  • Convenient: Placing a Water Tower next to where Water is needed can significantly reduce the time and effort required to go acquire water elsewhere. Some locations on the map may not even have any Well nearby to get water from, making a Water Tower highly useful.
  • No Maintenance Cost: Water Towers have no daily maintenance cost. The only money you pay is for purchase - and the water itself.

Disadvantages

  • Normally Redundant: On most maps, a Well can be found close to any location that requires Water, making a Water Tower redundant. On other maps, this is only true for some locations. Fan-made maps may or may not contain any Wells at all - requiring a Water Tower to be placed down.
  • Water Costs Money: Refilling from a Water Tower costs the same amount of money as buying water from a Well (approx. $0.20 per liter). In contrast, refilling from an open body of water costs nothing.
  • Large Footprint: A Water Tower requires an 8.0 x 8.0 meter square area, which is quite a bit of space. Make sure to place it in a position where a Water Tanker can be brought close enough to refill from the tower and to drive away comfortably.
