The Manitou MLT 840 is a Telehandler available in Farming Simulator 17. It is a "true" Telehandler, with a super-long telescopic arm and a short, maneuverable frame. The MLT 840 is $15,000 more expensive than its only direct competitor (the Liebherr TL 436-7), which will buy you major advantages regarding performance and cost-effiency over that model.

Advantages

  • Longer Arm: The MLT 840's telescopic arm is the longest lifting arm of any vehicle in the game.
  • Full Steering Options: The MLT 840 is capable of "All-Wheel Steering", as well as "Front Wheel Steering" and "Crab Steering", giving it the full maneuverability options expected of a "true" Telehandler.
  • Front Bolt Attachment: Unlike other models of Telehandlers in the base game, the MLT 840 has a Drawbar (Bolt) attachment at both the rear and the front of the vehicles. This means it can tow equipment when reversing.
  • Weight Stability: The MLT 840 weighs about a ton more than its competitor model, which gives it better stability when lifting heavy objects to great height. Its engine is also exactly strong enough to compensate for the extra weight, in terms of acceleration.

Disadvantages

  • Dynamism: The MLT 840 is equipped with a Powershift transmission, which is a lot more dynamic than a hydrostatic transmission. However, the use of the inching provides more smoothness to the driver.
