The Pöttinger HIT 12.14 T is a Tedder available in Farming Simulator 15. It is the largest of the two Tedders in the base game. Its purpose is to turn mowed Grass into dried Grass while it's still on the ground after the Mowing process. Dried Grass can then be turned into Hay by a Baler.

Overview

The HIT 12.14 T is the largest of the two Tedder available in the base game. It is a wide metal frame, holding 12 rotating discs covered with metal forks, and supported by a series of wheels. The frame is hydraulic and can be folded and unfolded. When activated properly, the discs and forks rotate, tossing about any loose Grass they encounter. This aerates the Grass and allows it to dry faster. In game terms, this process is what allows Grass to dry at all.

The HIT 12.14 T has a Drawbar (Bolt) attachment at the front, which can only be directly attached behind small and mid-sized tractors. You can also use a Weight as an adapter, to attach it to larger tractors.

When unfolded, lowered and activated, the HIT 12.14 T will instantly turn any piece of Mowed Grass it touches into Dried Grass. It will not affect uncut Grass at all, nor any other kind of Crop. It only interacts with Mowed Grass. The HIT 12.14 T does not change the volume of the Mowed Grass it teds - you'll get an equal amount of Dried Grass in its stead.

Note that this process does not create Hay, it creates Dried Grass, which will only turn into Hay if it is collected in bale form. Collecting the Dried Grass with a Loading Wagon turns it right back into regular Grass, as far as the game is concerned. That would waste all of the work you've done with the Tedder.

The HIT 12.14 T has a working width of 13.0 meters, which is considerably wider than the smaller Kuhn GF 6502. This is sufficiently wide to simultaneously ted roughly four to five trails of mowed grass left behind by a Mower. The HIT 12.14 T enforces a maximum speed of 19 km/h while working.

The store reports that the HIT 12.14 T requires 66 kW / 90 hp to operate, even though there is no real "minimum" requirement. In fact, a tractor with 90 hp may have trouble pulling the device up mild slopes when it is operating. At least 150 hp are recommended to both power the device and tow it comfortably, especially uphill. Of course, if the HIT 12.14 T is mounted in tandem with a Mower (a tool combo that mows and teds at the same time), an even greater power output may be required.
