Farming Simulator 22 is a farming simulator game developed and published by GIANTS Software. It was released on November 22nd, 2021. The latest version of the game, 1.14.1.0 is out on April 25, 2024.

History of the game

2021

First announced on 22 April 2021, the game should be released on Q4 of 2021. On 22 June 2021, GIANTS released Cinematic Trailer of Farming Simulator 22, which also reveals the release date of the game - the 22 November 2021. The game was released on 22 November 2021. Farming Simulator 22 introduced seasonal cycles and production chains. The game also added three new crops - Sorghum, which can be harvested using the basic combine harvester, Grapes and Olives, which require special New Holland Braud harvester - 9070L for grapes and 9090X for olives. Farming Simulator 22 supports Parallax Occlusion Mapping and Nvidia DLSS and DLAA. Besides, the game supports new GIANTS Engine 9. It also has updated build mode, unique crossplay multiplayer mode, updated character customization, returned greenhouses and bees, which are different from previous games, new machines, such as ground and grass rollers, stone pickers and mulchers, more slots for consoles, updated AI worker and used vehicles sale. The game has three maps - Elmcreek, based on the midwestern USA, Haut-Beyleron, which was revealed after Gameplay Trailer release and based on southern France, and returned Erlengrat from Farming Simulator 19.

Farming Simulator 22 has bonus content - the CLAAS XERION SADDLE TRAC Pack, which adds the CLAAS XERION 4200 SADDLE TRAC and tools for it by Kaweco manufacturer, Porsche Diesel Junior 108, the weakest tractor of the game with power of 19 hp, and Fendt 900 Vario Black Beauty, Mack Trucks Black Anthem 6x4 and Zetor Z-25K vehicles.

Content Update #1 (Patch 1.2) released on December 16, 2021 and added two water tanks by Abi, Vervaet Hydro Trike 5x5 self-propelled slurry tank, Kongskilde disc mowers, AMAZONE T-Pack U wheeled front weight, Bomech Trac-Pack slurry distributor for Hydro Trike, two new equipment by KRONE - the KRONE GX 520 trailer with conveyor belt and KRONE BiG Pack 1290 HDP VC square baler, Fliegl Noah TTW 140 animal transporter trailer, Landini Serie 7 Robo-Six medium tractor, Samasz Tornado 252 snow blower, and returned KUHN PRIMOR 15070 M straw blower and Case IH Steiger Quadtrac AFS Connect Series, alongside with its two analog tractors - the Case IH Steiger Rowtrac AFS Connect Series and Case IH Steiger Wheeled AFS Connect Series.

2022

Content Update #2 (Patch 1.3) released on February 24, 2022 and added another one self-propelled slurry tank - the Ploeger AT5104 LNMS, alongside with the Hardi NAVIGATOR 4000 DELTA FORCE sprayer, Kotte PQ 32.000 4-axled slurry tank, Krampe Big Body 750 grain trailer (which has unique Michelin-styled skin), and new IDEAL harvesters - Fendt IDEAL ParaLevel and Massey Ferguson MF IDEAL ParaLevel, which have two its unique headers - Fendt PowerFlow 30FT and Massey Ferguson MF PowerFlow 30FT.

The first DLC for the game and first Year 1 Season Pass Pack, the Antonio Carraro Pack, released on 22 March 2022, and added 10 new tractors by italian tractor manufacturer Antonio Carraro. All of them have unique functions, most of them would be great for grape and olive farming.

On April 19, 2022, the Precision Farming DLC is out, which is better than in FS19 - it is added the new soil map purchase and more improved features, crop sensors by ISARIA - the ISARIA PRO Active and ISARIA PRO Compact, the See & Spray function for John Deere R732i PowrSpray sprayer (spot spraying) and variable rate weed control,, variable rate seeding/drilling control, environmental score system, and manure sensor for almost all slurry tankers in-game. Content Update #3 (Patch 1.4) is out in same date. It is added five new equipment by Salek, added Jungheinrich ETV 216i electric forklift and returned CLAAS XERION tractor, which now is the CLAAS XERION 5000-4500.

On May 24, 2022, free AGI Pack is out which added conveyor belts, Sentinel Garage, Westeel bin and many more by AGI (patch 1.5 required). You can also treat seeds with the AGI STORM FX Seed Treater. On June 28, 2022, the second Year 1 Season Pass pack for Farming Simulator 22 released, the Kubota Pack, which added vehicles and equipment by Kubota and brand new passenger mode (patch 1.6 required). Patch 1.7 is out on August 22, 2022 and added CLAAS XERION 5000 Anniversary skin for XERION 5000 tractor and CLAAS LINER 4900 Business windrower. One day after, on August 23, 2022, the Vermeer Pack is released, alongside with ERO Grapeliner Series 7000 bonus pack. Vermeer Pack introduced the Vermeer ZR5-1200 self-propelled round baler.

Patch 1.7.1 is out on September 6, 2022, and added four new tractors by Valtra - the Valtra A Series, Valtra N Series, Valtra T Series and Valtra Q Series. A, N, T tractors are different from Farming Simulator 19 A, N, T ones. Valtra Q Series for the first time joins Farming Simulator. On September 27, 2022, Pumps n'Hoses Pack by Creative Mesh released, which advances slurry working with new equipment by Schouten.

First expansion for the game, the Platinum Expansion, alongside with Platinum Edition of the game, released on November 15, 2022 (patch 1.8.2 required). It adds new map based on Pacific Northwest in Canada, the Silverrun Forest, adds new forestry equipment by Volvo, Komatsu, IMPEX, John Deere, Pfanzelt, Kotschenreuther, Tajfun, Koller Forsttechnik, Schwarzmüller, Risutec, WesttecH and TMC Cancela. Forestry expands with tree marking using the STIHL markingsprays, rock breaking using the Paladin SFB 750 hydraulic breaker for skid steer loaders, moving log using containers, winches and yarders, updated tree planting and harvesting,, building roller coaster and boats,, new collectibles and etc.

2023

Many new patches are out for Farming Simulator 22 in 2023: Patch 1.9 (Platinum Expansion update and GÖWEIL)), 1.9.1 (expands Massey Ferguson and Fendt brands), 1.10 (adds Arena Mode and Bale Stacking Mode and returns New Holland CR10.90 Revelation), 1.11 (HORSCH AgroVation Pack), 1.12 (adds HORSCH Hero Outfit), and 1.13.1 (compatibility with second expansion).

GÖWEIL Pack is a first DLC of 2023 and first pack of Year 2 Season Pass, which out on March 21, 2023, and added new baling equipment by GÖWEIL and introduced stationary baling. Content update #6 (patch 1.9.1) released on April 25, 2023, and adds two new tractors - the Massey Ferguson MF 6S and Massey Ferguson MF 7S, alongside four new balers (two by Fendt and two by Massey Ferguson) - the Massey Ferguson MF RB 4160V Protec and Fendt Rotana 160 V Combi round balers, and Massey Ferguson MF 2370 Ultra HD and Fendt Squadra 1290 N UD square balers.

On June 12, 2023, new multiplayer mods were added - the Arena and Bale Stacking modes. One day after, on June 13, 2023, the Hay & Forage Pack DLC released. It is the second pack for Year 2 Season Pass and adds more grass machinery for Erlengrat by PÖTTINGER, Sepp Knüsel, Rigitrac, Brielmaier, Reiter, KRONE and REFORM. On July 25, 2023 (patch 1.11 required), third pack for the Year 2 Season Pass is out - the HORSCH AgroVation Pack, which is actually different from the same Farming Simulator 17/19 mod. This pack adds new HORSCH AgroVation map based on Kněžmost in Czech Republic and new equipment by HORSCH.

Fourth pack for Year 2 Season Pass, the OXBO Pack, released on September 19, 2023 (Patch 1.12 required) and added two new self-propelled manure/slurry spreaders - the Oxbo AT4103 and Oxbo AT5105. Ploeger AT5104 LNMS was renamed to OXBO AT5104 LNMS due to this. Besides, new grape harvester was added, the Oxbo 6030, which is actually multi-functional grape harvester: it can be the harvester, overloading harvester and multi-row sprayer. Oxbo 2340 windrower is also included.

Case IH Farmall Anniversary Pack released on November 10, 2023, (Patch 1.13.1 required for this DLC, Emergency Pack and second expansion) and added two new Farmall tractors by Case IH - the classic Case IH Farmall 1066 Hydro and modern Case IH Farmall C Series, which also has the Case IH L630 front loader. In the same date, the Emergency Pack mod by Creative Mesh is released, which added new fire missions such as fire fighting with burning bales using Schlingmann HLF20 and Schlingmann TLF3000 fire trucks.

Second and final expansion for the game, and big expansion for Year 2 Season Pass, the Premium Expansion, alongside with Premium Edition of the game, released on November 14, 2023, and added new map - Zielonka, which is based on Poland, and new machines and tools by Farmet, Fiat, Farmtech, Zetor, Unia and etc., as well as three new crops - carrots, parsnips and red beet, which require Grimme GF-series ridge creator and Kverneland Miniar Nova series planter to be planted, and Dewulf vegetable harvesters to be harvested, and etc.

2024

As of Patch 1.13.1.1, game supports AMD FSR 3 and Frame Generation.

The latest DLC for the game, the Farm Production Pack, which requires the latest version for the game, the 1.14.1.0, released on April 30, 2024, and added 20+ new items for production chains, including selling points, production equipment, storage options, power generators & more. As of May 2024, official ModHub includes more than 6 000 mods for the game, all of them which have more then 1 600 000 000 downloads.

Farming Simulator 22 introduces multiple changes and features beyond previous versions of the game.

Crops

• In Farming Simulator 22 there are 16 types of crops: Wheat, Barley, Canola, Sunflowers, Soybeans, Corn, Oat, Sorghum, Oilseed Radish, Potatoes, Sugar Beet, Poplars, Grapes, Olives, Sugarcane and Cotton.

Premium expansion introduced three new types of crops: Carrots, Parsnips and Red Beet.

• Farming Simulator 22 introduces 3 new maps: Elmcreek, Erlengrat, and Haut-Beyleron.

With a release of Platinum Expansion, 1 new map was added to the game: Silverrun Forest. The HORSCH AgroVation Pack added the new HORSCH AgroVation map and the Premium Expansion added Zielonka.
